山の自然に抱かれて育つ、希少な繭・天蚕。
その糸を緯糸に用いた、絹天蚕糸のからみ織りテキスタイルです。

天蚕糸は採れる量がわずかで、美しい光沢と独特の色合いをもつ大変貴重な絹糸です。

この作品に使われている天蚕糸の一部は、山梨県市川三郷町の山間の工房で飼育・採繭されたものです。
この地域では昔から、天蚕を育て、糸にする営みがありました。yamamayuでは、その知恵と種を受け継ぎながら、今も一繭ずつ大切に育てています。

近年は気候の変化により、天蚕の飼育はますます難しくなっています。
それでも、この美しい糸を絶やさぬよう、自然と向き合いながら布へと織り上げています。

緯糸の天蚕糸には染色を施さず、繭本来の翡翠のような自然な色を生かしました。
経糸はごく淡く染め、天蚕の色と調和するやわらかな陰影を持たせています。

透けるような光沢、軽やかな手ざわり、自然の尊さが宿る一枚です。

A leno weave textile made with rare Tensan wild silk.

Tensan wild silk is produced only in very small quantities and is known for its luminous sheen and distinctive natural color.

Some of the Tensan silk used in this piece comes from wild silkworms raised and harvested at our mountain studio in Ichikawamisato, Yamanashi.
In this region, people have long nurtured Tensan and turned its cocoons into thread. At yamamayu, we continue this knowledge and care for the inherited silkworm eggs, one cocoon at a time.

In recent years, changes in climate have made raising Tensan increasingly difficult.
Even so, we continue to face nature closely, preserving this rare and beautiful thread through our textile making.

The Tensan silk used for the weft is left undyed, allowing its natural jade-like color to remain.
The warp is dyed very lightly, creating soft shadows that harmonize with the color of the Tensan silk.

This piece carries a translucent luster, an airy touch, and the quiet presence of nature.
